Creating a Drag and Drop question

Drag-and-drop activities are widely used in educational settings because they offer interactive and engaging ways to teach and assess various concepts. They are useful to test knowledge of categories, consequences, or whether a statement is true or false.

In Drag and Drop questions, learners use their mouse to drag answers and sort them into groups.

Answers can also be sorted into groups by selecting the answer's ellipsis menu (author-create-ellipsis-icon.png) and choosing the group from the menu. This method can be done with the mouse or by using keyboard navigation, ensuring a wider range of accessibility than a traditional Drag and Drop interaction.

Adding a Drag and Drop to your Project

1. Select the plus button (create-project-add-plus-icon) at the position where you'd like to add a Drag and Drop component:

Configuring your Drag and Drop answers and groups

There are several controls accessible from the right-hand toolbar that control the question text, answer text and their correct group, and the groups themselves.

They can be edited in any order but it may be easier to create the groups first before the answers so that the correct group for the answers can be defined at the same time they are configured.

1. Editing the question

1. Highlight the Drag and Drop by selecting it—a blue border will surround it

2. Select the Questions icon (create-toolbar-question-icon.png) from the right hand toolbar to open the Question menu

3. Open the Question accordion

4. Type a question or direction in the Question field. Make sure your question or direction clearly outlines what you want from the user:

2. Expand the answer's accordion and type in the text field to edit its text label

3. Choose from the Correct Group menu to select the group the answer should be dropped into
