Configuring a course's learner data capture settings

When you enable Analytics for your account, your exported courses will begin collecting and reporting learner data. However, you can modify the learner data settings for individual courses if you prefer them not to collect specific information. For example, you may want one course to report learner data but anonymize their personal information, or a test course to avoid reporting any analytics.

There are two available options:

  • Capture Analytics for this Export which enables learner data for the current course to be collected and reported to Elucidat Analytics
  • Capture Personally Identifiable Information (PII) which controls whether personal information (name and email address) is recorded for the current course. This option will be unavailable if recording PII is disabled for your account. For more information about how to enable or disable PII collection for your account, see Activating Analytics for your account.

These options can be set just before exporting your course, offering flexibility on when and for which courses you apply them.

Note: These options are only available if Analytics has been turned on.

i. Toggle Capture Analytics for this Export? to enable or disable data capture:

  • On: Learner results like score and status will be captured for this course
  • Off: No learner data will be recorded or reported. If this option is chosen, it will also toggle Capture Personally Identifiable Information (PII)? off.

ii. Toggle Capture Personally Identifiable Information (PII)? to enable or disable collection of personal data:

  • On: Learner names and email addresses will be captured and reported to Elucidat Analytics
  • Off: Personal information will not be recorded and learners will remain anonymous in Elucidat Analytics

5. Select Download SCORM

The newly exported course will adhere to the preferences you've set.

Caution: Choosing No for Capture Personally Identifiable Information will not apply to the data recorded by your LMS's analytics. If you wish to make your learners anonymous in your LMS, you'll need to configure this in your LMS settings.
