Creating a screen recording

If there's a process you'd like to show your learners, you can demonstrate it by making a screen recording. You can record your screen for up to 2 minutes directly in Elucidat and then add the video to your courses.

Screen recordings can be made either with or without your camera, so you can give your videos a personal touch or keep the focus on what you're demonstrating.

You can create screen recordings in the Asset Library. Once the video has been recorded, it will be added to your library so you can use it in future Projects.

Preparing to record your screen

1. Go to the Asset Library

2. Select Add assets:

Create, Asset Library, Add assets.png

3. Choose Camera and screen recording

The Camera & screen record window will open:

Create, Asset Library, Camera and screen record window.png

You can choose to record any one of the following:

  • Camera only which will only record footage from a webcam
  • Camera & screen record which will record footage from your chosen screen and webcam simultaneously
  • Screen record only which will only record footage from your chosen screen

Recording your screen

1. Choose either Camera & screen record or Screen record only from the Recording options

Note: You'll likely be prompted to confirm what part of your screen you'd like to share. For example, in Google Chrome, you'll be given the option to record a specific tab, a window, or the entire screen.

2. If you've chosen Camera & screen record, select the position of the webcam recording overlaid on the screen by selecting an option from Camera position. You don't need to select a position if you choose one of the other two options.

3. Press Record. A three-second countdown will begin. Once it has finished, recording will start.

4. If you need to pause recording at any time, select Pause

5. If you'd like to stop recording and start again from the beginning, select Start over

5. When you've finished recording, select Pause and then Save and preview to review your video

6. If you're happy with your video, select Upload to Asset Library. This will save the video to your library so it can be used in your Projects
