Courses you make in Elucidat can be updated directly from the platform using re-release, pushing your latest changes directly to the current version of course wherever it is hosted.
With more conventional courses, it can be disruptive to update it once it has been launched as you often need to re-export the SCORM file and re-upload it to your LMS.
Elucidat’s re-release feature makes updates easier and less disruptive to your learners as you don’t have to upload a new SCORM or distribute a new link every time you make a change.
Before you begin
To re-release a course, you must have first created a release from one of your Projects. To learn how to do this, see one of the guides listed below:
Re-releasing a live course
- Open the Export menu from your Project’s toolbar
- Click Manage releases
- Find the course you’d like to re-release from the list
- Click the course’s ellipsis menu
- Choose Re-release options
- Choose which course languages to include in the re-release
- Choose a re-release mode
-
Re-release and retain bookmarking
Active learners’ current positions in the course will be retained. They will return to the course where they left off. See Retaining learner progress after re-releasing a course for more information. -
Full re-release
Active learners’ current positions will be cleared. They will start the course from the beginning if they return.
-
Re-release and retain bookmarking
- Click Re-release. It will take a few moments to re-release the course. An alert will appear notifying you when the course has successfully re-released.
When you launch the course, you will see the latest changes.
Choosing whether to re-release an existing course or create a new one
You will receive a prompt to re-release your course when you have made a change to it. However, creating a new release will also reflect the course‘s latest changes.
While creating a new release does mean that you need to upload it again to your LMS or distribute a new link, it is sometimes necessary based on the scope of changes you’ve performed.
- Re-release after you’ve made changes to the structure or content; when your course is live and you want to disrupt your learners as little as possible
- Create a new release when you want to export the course with a different configuration (data collection, xAPI tracking, SCORM mode)
