Preparing your team for Elucidat Create

As your account’s Administrator, you’re likely responsible for ensuring that your colleagues have everything they need to work in Elucidat Create. However, if you are also new to the platform, it can be difficult to know where to start.

You can use this checklist to understand what you need to do to prepare your organization for building elearning in Create.

1. Create your first Brand Style

⏱️ Estimated time

5 minutes (with preparation)

A Brand Style is a re-usable blueprint that defines your course’s appearance. Because they can be used with many courses at once, they are a great way to ensure all of your organization’s content is visually cohesive. They also free your colleagues from having to make styling decisions while they’re building, allowing them to focus on the learning content.

If you’ve come from Elucidat Author, you may feel like setting up a new Brand Style for Create will take a significant amount of your time but the process in Create is much simpler than in Author.

With a small amount of preparation, it will usually only take you around 5 minutes to set up.

Setting up a Brand Style

  1. Prepare your materials ready to add to the Brand Style
This could be brand guidelines, colour palette hex codes, company logos etc. If you already have a Style in Elucidat Author, you could also copy and paste the values you need directly from there. You can find instructions on how to access your Elucidat Author Styles in Editing a Style.
  2. Follow the instructions in Creating a Brand Style.

Remember that you can always edit your Brand Style—if you’re really short on time, focus on the essentials and come back to refine it later. Any changes you make to the Brand Style will be automatically reflected in all the Elucidat Create Projects that use it so there’s no need for any additional action once you’ve updated it.

The priority here is to create the Style so your colleagues can start building Projects.

2. Enable Analytics to allow learner data to be collected from your organization’s courses

⏱️ Estimated time

2 minutes

Capturing and analysing your learners’ data is essential. Understanding how your learners are performing is not only useful for gaining insight on how to improve your elearning but also provides important data like results and activity that can be used for compliance.

In your new account, Analytics will be disabled by default—you will need to manually enable it for your courses to start collecting data. Enabling this in advance means that your colleagues don’t need to wait before exporting their work and collecting data.

3. Grant your colleagues access to Elucidat Create

⏱️ Estimated time

5 minutes

For your colleagues to be able to start using Elucidat Create, you’ll need to assign a Create User Role to them (or, if they’re not Elucidat users already, invite them to your organization’s account).

Create User Roles are different from Author ones; they are separately configured. elu-user-management

Just because a user has access to Author, doesn’t necessarily mean they can access Create (and vice versa). You can use this flexibility to tailor which platform your users can access and what roles they serve in each.

To make this task a little easier, we’ve made it so that you can add or configure multiple users in bulk. See the following articles for more information:

4. Share a quick start guide with your team

⏱️ Estimated time

1 minute

Just as you once were when you started this checklist, your colleagues are most likely also newcomers to Elucidat Create and they may need some guidance to get started.

Your first 15 minutes in Elucidat Create offers a quick 15 minute tutorial for beginners. At the end of the tutorial, the reader will have built their first Project and started to understand some of the basics of editing.

This is essential reading for new users!

5. Familiarize yourself and your colleagues with the support resources
