Adding PDF Resources to Projects

Providing downloadable training content is an excellent way to enrich your projects with supplemental reference materials. By using Elucidat's dedicated Resource Component, you can provide learners with necessary context, instructions, and deeper reading materials that extend beyond the main content.

Why Use the Resource Component?

For learners, having easy access to supporting materials can make a significant difference in how they absorb training:

  • Context on Demand: Learners get a clean, scannable list of files that clearly indicates what they are downloading and how large the files are.
  • Undivided Attention: Learners can reference deeper instructions or worksheets offline without losing their place or progress in the main project.
  • Smooth Workflow: Clicking a resource button executes the exact action you intend, keeping their learning journey smooth and uninterrupted.

How to Add and Configure a Resource Component

Unlike static links, the Resource Component is a flexible block that you can insert anywhere within your project layout.

Step 1: Add the Component to Your Page

  1. Select and insert the Resources component

Step 2: Configure Your Resource Items

Click on the component to open the toolbar. From here, you can customize each individual resource item:

  1. Give it a Custom Title: Overwrite the default file name in the File name field with a clear, instructional title for your learners.
  2. Choose or Upload Your PDF: Click the Choose file button. You can upload a new PDF directly or select an existing one that has been uploaded as a "project resource" in your Asset Library.
  3. Customise the Button Text: Enter the text you want to appear on the download button (for example, "Download").
  4. Set the Button Action: Under Button action, choose how the file should behave when clicked:
    • Download file: Triggers an immediate local download to the learner's device.
    • Open in new tab: Opens the PDF in a new browser window so they can read it alongside the project.
  5. Match Your project Branding: Customise your visual settings, including Button colour, text, and icons, so the resource block looks like a natural, integrated part of your lesson.
  6. Add Multiple Resources: Click the + Add resource button at the bottom of the toolbar to compile a clean, structured list of downloadable files.

  • File Size and Format Support: The Asset Library successfully supports and stores the PDF format up to a maximum size limit of 10MB per file.
