Adding a button that closes the course

Adding a Close Course button to the final page can be a helpful cue for your learners to indicate that the course has ended and they can now close it.

A Close Course button works in the same way as the X button on a browser window or tab; the window or tab is closed when it is pressed.

The Close Course button does not report the learner's results (i.e. their completed or passed status) to the LMS. Learner results are reported automatically when the learner completes the course and exits it using any method.

Caution: The Close Course button will not work under the following conditions:

  • The course is being viewed in Preview
  • The course was opened in the same window or tab it was launched from

This is to avoid the user also closing the platform or their LMS.

Setting up a Close Course button

Some components come with a button already built in—for example, the Call to Action component. With other components, you may need to add a button first.

Adding a new button to a component

1. Select the component you'd like to add a button to. You'll know a component has been selected if it has a blue border around it.
