Translation methods
There are two methods you can use to translate your content:
- Auto-Translate: an automatic translator powered by machine learning that can create many Variations of your original course at once.
- Translation files: specialised file types that can be edited and uploaded into your course to create Variations.
Auto-Translate

Translation files
You can also translate your courses with a translation file—an exportable file containing the text content from your Proejct. These files can be edited using different software and then uploaded back into the Project to create a Variation. Creating and managing your translated courses with Parents and Variations
With Elucidat Create's Parent and Variation courses, you can build and manage translated versions of your course simultaneously, avoiding compromises on learner experience and content consistency.
When you translate a Project using one of the methods described above, the source Project becomes a Parent and its translations become Variations. While a regular Project can only be in one language, a Parent and its Variations form a combined multi-language set.
A Parent and its Variations are all structurally identical to one another but differ in their text content. Typically, the Parent will be in the language you first create the course in; the Variations are then translated from the original language.
For example, you might create the first version of your course in English then translate it into three other languages. Following the translation, the English Project becomes the Parent and the three other language versions of the Project become its Variations. Each one follows the same layout, interactions, and navigation but the text appears in a different language.
The Parent acts as a controller for its Variations. Changes made to the Parent can be synced to your Variations, ensuring that your courses are consistent for each language version. For more information about syncing and how it works, see Understanding how syncing works in Parents and Variations.
Multi-language SCORM packages
Once you've used Elucidat Create to translate your elearning, you can export it as a multi-language course—a single SCORM package that contains each language version—allowing learners to choose which course language they prefer before they begin from a drop-down menu.
