Translating your elearning using Auto-Translate

Auto-Translate is a fast way to create different language versions of your courses.

Powered by machine-translation, Auto-Translate can automatically translate your course into one of 75 supported languages. Using Auto-Translate can be an effective time and cost saver. By providing a high-quality first-pass, you and your team can focus instead on reviewing and optimizing the content which in turn, can help you reduce your overall reliance on external agencies.

Overall, this method is a quicker and more cost-effective way to build translated content than using translation files—however, we strongly recommend you have the translated courses reviewed by a fluent speaker as Auto-Translate may not always translate terms or phrases to your expectation.

Auto-Translating a Project

You can auto-translate a Project from one of two places: inside the Project editing interface or from the Project library. It doesn‘t matter which method you use; they both have identical outcomes.

When you use Auto-Translate, your Project will be converted into a Multi-Language Project with the original language Project becoming a Parent and any translated versions become Variations.

Parents serve as both the original language version of the course and a controller for the Variations created from it. You can control the Variations‘ layout, configuration, and structure via the Parent which allows you to avoid lengthy editing processes and ensure the journey and experience of each language versions remains consistent. To learn more, see Understanding how syncing works in Parents and Variations.

From the editing interface

  1. Open your Project
  2. Select Translations from the menu bar at the top of the page
  3. Choose Auto-Translate new variations
  4. Choose the language(s) you'd like to translate your Project into from the Select a language drop-down. You can choose up to 74 languages.

  6. Select Next to begin the translation process
  7. Wait for the translation to finish, then select Ok

Once translation has finished, the Parent will be visible in the Project Library with a new Language Variations accordion menu.

Click the menu to expand it and reveal the Variations.
