Features in Author that are not currently in Elucidat Create

As Create is a newer, more streamlined product, there are several features that you may be familiar with in Author that do not currently exist in Create.

These are:

  • Branching using Rules
Creating branching pages or chapters that appear dynamically for different users under certain conditions like how they answered a question or the role they chose at the beginning of a course (also known as a ‘role selector’). Create does not currently offer branching functionality—this is only available in Elucidat Author. See Creating branching scenarios for more information.
  • Offline and API release types
Create currently only offers SCORM and Online Link releases. You cannot create API or Backup (or ‘Offline’ SCORM) release types.
  • SCORM 2004 2nd and 3rd edition
Create offers learner tracking for SCORM packages in both SCORM 1.2 or SCORM 2004 (4th edition) formats. It does not offer the ability to export SCORM packages in the SCORM 2004 2nd or 3rd editions.
  • Adding document resources to their Projects
Create doesn’t currently support uploading documents PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel documents to a course in order to be accessed or downloaded by a learner. This should not be confused with PowerPoint import, a feature available in both Author and Create which lets users import a PPTX file to create a new Project in the respective platform.
  • Converting Author Projects into Create Projects
While Create Projects can be transferred to Elucidat Author for further editing, the inverse where Author Projects are transferred to Create is not possible.
  • Transferring existing Author Styles to Create
It is not possible to transfer a Style you built in Elucidat Author over to Create. You must build new Styles from scratch in Elucidat Create.
  • Using Departments and folders to organize your libraries
Create doesn’t currently offer the ability to segment your content by Department or into folders. You can however change a Project’s Status to indicate what stage in the creation process it is in. You can also use the sharing settings to share your Projects with individual users or the entire organization and select what level of editing permissions that user or segment has. For more information, see Making your Projects visible to your colleagues.
  • Extended default roles and customizable roles
Create does not offer the more extensive selection of user roles that Author does—in addition, it is not possible to invite External Collaborators to view your Elucidat Create Projects.
Information: The items listed in this document are not intended to indicate a roadmap of features to be added to Create in the future. It is intended to help you clearly understand what is and isn‘t available in Create in comparison to Author.
